Photography Portfolio
There’s something fascinating about discovering a detail in a familiar place that I’ve never noticed before. It might be sunlight filtering through the trees, an unusual pattern in the clouds or the way frost transforms the landscape on a cold Tasmanian morning.
My Photography Portfolio brings together collections inspired by these observations, along with experiments in light, composition and perspective. Each collection explores something that caught my attention and made me curious enough to pick up a camera.

The Beauty Within
The Beauty Within is a six-image photography series exploring the beauty that can be discovered in familiar surroundings when we take the time to look beyond the obvious.

Learning to Look Differently
I’ve always enjoyed taking photographs, but studying photography at the University of Tasmania has encouraged me to think more carefully about what catches my attention and why.
One of the things I enjoy most is discovering something unexpected in a familiar place. Sometimes it’s the way sunlight filters through branches, reflections moving across water or the patterns created by frost on the ground. Other times, it’s simply changing my position and realising that something I’ve walked past many times looks completely different from another angle.
Since moving to Tasmania, I’ve become increasingly fascinated by the changing seasons and the way they transform familiar landscapes. Fog, frost, clouds and water regularly find their way into my photographs. I enjoy experimenting with black-and-white photography, particularly when removing colour allows textures, shapes and details to become more noticeable.
I’m still learning about composition, camera settings and different photographic techniques. Sometimes I set out with a particular image in mind, while other times I simply explore and see what catches my attention. Both approaches have led to discoveries I wasn’t expecting.
Photography has also made me more aware of how differently people can experience the same surroundings. What catches my attention might be something another person walks straight past, and the reverse is just as likely.
Through my photographic work, I’m interested in exploring observation, perspective and the relationship between familiar places and the things we notice within them.
I don’t think every photograph needs to tell a complicated story. Sometimes it’s enough to capture something that made me stop, look again and wonder what else I might discover.
